Vehicles in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Police reported they were contacted by a resident who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.

An important official said the attack left him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
