19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after spring of that year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
